BIOGRAPHY

I was born 9th of December 1980 in Athens, Greece. I have been drawing since I was 2-3 years old. While in the final grade of High school , I was attending a preparatory course for the School Of Fine Arts in Greece. Instead of actually aiming there, I decided to go for something more up-to-date. I am currently in my second year in the University of Teesside, UK. I am studying "Creative Visualisation" which is a course mainly concentrated in 3D and 2D Animation,Computer Graphics,Video Editing and Digital Imagery. In this course I found a great way to combine art with computers, aiming to get the best out of traditional means through modern technology. I am interested in whatever visual media but particulary in drawing, illustration and film-making. 3D Animation is a very interesting field, but seems rather confining just by itself in some aspects . I prefer illustration, in its narrative sense, perhaps in graphic novels and recently I have developed a great interest in film and directing. Other interests include music and sports. I find the combination of music and visuals most interesting, and something I will probably delve deeper into, in the near future.

Approach

My approach in my work is defined from my love for drawing. For me everything starts and ends there. Especially after the one year course in free hand drawing, I can see the world in a whole different way. Every project is lead by this understanding of lighting, colour and shape . I can say that I am mostly a visual person, and I always work taking into account the impact and reaction people will have towards what they conceive from my work. This is not to suggest though that I don' take interest in story. I think that these two should work in perfect balance.

Techniques

As mentioned before everything from me starts from drawing. I think that black and white pencil drawings is what I like and feel most in control of. Colourwise, I started with markers in 1992 but at some point it felt too flat and with no perspective for future development. I now use mostly acrylics and coloured pencils for greater control. I like to use computer not to produce an image , but rather to enhance it. Computers give you great control over combining and manipulating images and textures and that is what I want to get the most out of.
